MUSEUM, LIBRARY, COMPUTER CENTER FOR SARAGURO
HELP SARAGURO BUILD A MUSEUM!
Recognize the building above? It's on the corner of calles Loja and Sucre along the central park, and currently houses Saraguro's municipal library, public toilets, and the jail. Mayor Oswaldo Torres and the Municipal Council want to renovate this structure and turn it into a museum/library/computerfacility. But they don't have enough money to do it all!
Contributions have been received from North Americans and Europeans who have lived, worked, or visited in Saraguro to show how much they appreciate the friendship the people of Saraguro have given them.
As of January 1, 2003, $1600 has been delivered to Saraguro, and since that date $305 more has been deposited into the Museum for Saraguro account set up by Linda and Jim Belote for delivery later this year. If you're going to Saraguro yourself, you can make your donation in person! Go to the City Hall (Municipio building) on the western side of the central park and leave your donation with the canton treasurer, Sr. Ordoñez. He'll be happy to give you a receipt and a big thank you! .
